I am Maryam Rashghi, born in 1983 in Iran. The first gift I gave my mother was my smile, but after my birth, she suffered a stroke, which left her mouth crooked. Since then, she has gifted her smile to everyone (because of the shape of her lips, which always appear as if she is smiling).
Dots shaped my world…
I fell in love with Braille-style dot painting and, in my quest to make the world a better place, I developed an innovative artistic style—paintings in white. For me, white symbolizes purity and infinity, just like the limitless world of blind children.
Art has always been in my heart since childhood, but the path was never easy. In first grade, I ran away from school because my teacher didn’t stamp a reward on my drawing notebook. In high school, I skipped school for three months because I was passionate about painting, but my parents wouldn’t allow me to pursue it. However, I eventually found my way and became a different kind of painter.

Blind children possess a unique and vibrant imagination that often goes unseen. By selling their arts, we can illuminate their creativity, offering the world a glimpse into their rich inner lives. These artworks, often created with textured materials or bold colors, carry profound emotional depth and perspective. Selling their arts not only raises awareness about their capabilities but also generates funds to support their education, healthcare, and artistic development. Entering the world of the blind has been a unique, profound, and exciting experience for me. This journey showed me that art is not just visual — it can be touchable, audible, and deeply felt.Studying the world of the blind made me realize how powerful touch and sound are in conveying emotions. That’s why I decided to combine my artworks with Braille and dots, as one of the most important tactile elements, so that everyone can build an image with their hands.
Today, I’m happy to share my works with a global community and create a new world between light and darkness. To present my art, I use various platforms like Foundation, Objkt, Rarible, Salvor, and Xibit, making my tactile and conceptual art accessible to everyone, anywhere in the world.
For me, this world is a border less, sightless realm — yet full of the light of touch and sound.
